Ali Charmi is a London-based storyboard artist, animator, and director with an MA in Filmmaking from the London Film School.

Feature Film & HETV

Ali has visualised action and suspense for major productions, including:

  • The Scurry – Dir. Craig Roberts, starring Ella Purnell & Rhys Ifans (Upcoming).
  • Deep Fear (Netflix) – Reached #1 Globally upon release.
  • Lapland War – Dir. Aku Louhimies (Upcoming).
  • The Interceptor – Action sequences for the BBC One primetime drama.
  • Murder on the Home Front – Period drama for ITV / Carnival Films.
  • Orbit Ever After – BAFTA-nominated short film.
  • The Feeder – Debut horror feature currently in development with No-Office Films and producer Mike Macari(The Ring).

Animation & VFX

Ali brings a director’s eye to technical sequences. He served as a senior animation artist on the critically acclaimed documentary Coup 53, edited by the legendary Walter Murch and featuring Ralph Fiennes. He also directed animation and VFX sequences for the Mandela family documentary Mandela: Troublemaker.

Commercials & Writing

Ali has storyboarded cinematic teasers (ITV’s Carnage), music videos, and hundreds of commercials for global brands including Dr. Martens, Adidas, Amazon, Coca-Cola, Martini, and Sony Music.

As a writer, he was commissioned by Rovio (creators of Angry Birds) to pen screenplays for Small Town Murders.

Education

Ali lectures on Animation and Storyboarding at UAL, London College of Communication, Ravensbourne, and the London Film School. School.
